Acupuncture – how can it help you:

Western acupuncture is used by physiotherapists to stimulate the central nervous system to release the body’s neuro-chemicals i.e. endorphins, for a range of affects including pain relief, melatonin to improve sleep, and serotonin to promote general well being. These neuro-chemicals assist the body's normal healing processes, and can offer pain relief on their own, or as part or a wider rehabilitation intervention including manual or manipulative therapy, massage, and exercise interventions. Both acupuncture and dry needling techniques have been shown to assist some patients with musculoskeletal conditions including:

  • Acute and chronic injuries
  • Back and neck pain
  • Muscle and joint problems
  • Nerve pain
  • Arthritis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sports injuries

At Franklin Physiotherapy, we have therapists who are fully qualified to practice both Western Acupuncture and Dry Needling techniques. Physiotherapists who practice Western Acupuncture are members of the Physiotherapy Acupuncture Association of New Zealand (PAANZ) and registered with NZ Blood.
